Bluesky bio generator
Free Bluesky Bio Generator
Bluesky lets you use a domain you own as your handle, and it lets users build their own feeds. Both change what a bio should say, and 256 characters is enough room to say it properly.

All about the Bluesky bio generator
What is different about a Bluesky profile?
Two things. Identity is domain based: you can set your handle to a domain you own, so a personal site becomes your username and your bio often needs to connect the two for visitors who do not immediately recognize it. And discovery runs through custom feeds, which anyone can build and subscribe to, many of them organized by topic. That makes stating your subjects clearly more useful than on a platform where an algorithm infers them. You get 256 characters, and Bluesky counts graphemes rather than raw characters.
How to write for Bluesky
The platform conventions are still forming, but a few things already hold.
- State your topics plainly. Custom feeds are frequently topic based, and being legible to the people who curate and browse them is how you get found.
- Explain a domain handle. Someone seeing a handle that is a website may not know what it is, and one clause in the bio resolves it.
- Keep the tone conversational. Bluesky culture is informal, and a bio written as a corporate positioning statement reads as out of place.
- Use the space. At 256 characters you have noticeably more than X allows, so a one line bio leaves room unused.
- Mention what you do not post about if your account is narrow, since it sets expectations and reduces unfollows.
- Remember graphemes, not characters. A few emoji cost less here than a naive character count would suggest, but non Latin scripts behave differently again.
Domain handles, and whether to bother
This is the most distinctive feature of Bluesky identity and it is widely misunderstood.
- You can set your handle to a domain you control by adding a DNS record or hosting a verification file, which proves ownership.
- It functions as a form of verification. There is no blue tick to buy, so a recognized domain is how organisations demonstrate they are genuine.
- Anyone can do it, including individuals with a personal site, and it costs nothing beyond owning the domain.
- The trade off is recognisability. A default handle is instantly readable as a Bluesky account, while a domain handle can confuse people at first.
- If you use one, your bio is the place to make the connection explicit rather than assuming people will infer it.
Who uses this tool
Bluesky users skew toward people who arrived from X and are rebuilding.
- People rebuilding an audience after leaving X and wanting a bio that reflects a fresh start rather than a copy.
- Journalists and writers, who make up a visible share of active accounts.
- Engineers and technical users attracted by the underlying open protocol.
- Organisations using a domain handle for verification and needing the bio to explain it.
- Anyone whose posts do well but whose profile does not convert visits into follows.

When this is not the right tool
Bluesky is smaller than the platforms it is often compared with, so a well written profile will not produce mainstream platform reach and expecting it to leads to the wrong conclusion. The bio also cannot get you into custom feeds on its own: those are built by people and populated by what you actually post, so consistent posting on a clear topic does more than any profile text. For the posts themselves, use the Bluesky post generator, and to understand how the grapheme count affects your drafts, the character counter measures it correctly.
How teams picture using RepeatPost
“Honestly, the calendar is what sold me. I could see every channel in one view and spot the week we'd gone quiet. Before this I was juggling three spreadsheets and a Slack thread. Now I plan the month on a Monday morning and I'm done by half ten.”

United KingdomJun 14, 2026“We run social for eleven clients and keeping them separate used to be a genuine anxiety of mine. Workspaces fixed that. Each client sits in their own space, approvals route to the right person, and I've stopped worrying that someone's going to push a dental practice promo to a restaurant account at 6am.”

United StatesJun 29, 2026“I batch a fortnight of content on a Sunday arvo and then I don't think about it again. Reckon it's saved me a solid day a week. Only gripe is the mobile app still feels a step behind the web version, so I do the actual planning on my laptop. Everything else is spot on.”

I still rewrite maybe every third one to sound like the client, but starting from something beats staring at a blank box. The hashtag tool alone I'm using daily.”

IndiaJul 30, 2026“I sell fabrics and my customers find me on Instagram mostly. Posting used to be whenever I remembered, which was maybe twice a week. Now I sit down every Sunday evening, load up two weeks, and it goes out on its own. Sales have followed. I'd like to see WhatsApp added properly, that's my one ask.”

NigeriaAug 18, 2026“Our team is five people and we were losing posts in Slack threads. Someone would approve something, someone else would tweak it, and nobody knew which version went live. The approval flow sorted that in a week. Fair play, it's the least glamorous feature on the site and it's the one I'd miss most.”

Questions
Two hundred and fifty six characters, which is noticeably more than X gives you. Posts are limited separately to 300 graphemes. Since graphemes are counted rather than raw characters, emoji behave more predictably than on some other platforms.
Bluesky lets you set your handle to a domain you own by proving control through DNS or a hosted file. It works as verification, since there is no badge to buy. The downside is that a domain handle can read as unfamiliar at first.
Feeds are built by users and are frequently topic based, so being clear about your subjects helps people place you and helps feed curators find you. Vague positioning language is less useful here than a plain statement of what you post about.
A grapheme is what a reader perceives as a single symbol, so an emoji built from several code points counts once rather than several times. It makes the effective limit behave more predictably with emoji and with non Latin scripts.
You have 256 characters rather than 160, so a direct copy leaves space unused. The tone also differs, since Bluesky is more informal, and a bio written for a much larger platform often reads as over positioned here.
Not one you can buy. Setting a domain you control as your handle is the closest equivalent and is how organisations demonstrate authenticity. It is available to anyone with a domain rather than gated behind a subscription.
